THICKSATIONAL OSCARS

Of course we knew Octavia was going to go home with  THE GOLD!

She was trying to fight back the tears! Let the tears flow thickette because you deserve it! Congrats Octavia!

And her dress was BEAUTIFUL! Thicksational A++++++ Octavia and kudos to your stylist!

Oprah won an honorary Oscar! She looked beautiful last night and to be honest she deserved an Oscar for her Miss Sophia role in The Color Purple but hey at least she has one now :)

Now on to the BS!
GABBY “WHAT THE HELL” SIDIBE

I can’t find a clip of the BS at the Oscars yesterday but the Academy Awards had a video of Gabby Sidibe with a wig that she found in an alley!

Ok I don’t know if she found it in an alley but it looked like it. Imagine Coming to America and a dried up Soul Glo Wig OR a wig they used from Roots mini series. That’s what she had on her head! There’s no excuse for it. Gabby you have too many resources to have that wig. Do better thickette!

Update: I found the picture!

Can you say ROADKILL!

OCTAVIA GIVES HER REAL OPINION

I guess Octavia read the drama over her interview at the SAG Awards. Well she decided to make a statement on her Facebook page.

After being honored by my Guild on Sunday, I was whisked to the Press Room where one of the first questions I was asked (by Ted Casablanca) was ‘what I felt about underweight women’. (i’m paraphrasing here) I’m thinking….this is relevant because… Then I started thinking, would these questions ever be asked of my male counterparts? Better yet, underweight actors or actresses? Nah, I don’t think so!
Anyway, I answer: “Women would be alot happier if they ate…However, it is society that has told them and continues to tell them that you are less valued if you are of a certain age, or weight…something has to change. ” I began that by addressing my own weight issue..”Granted I’m not at the healthiest weight because when you are heavier around the middle…” blah blah blah. YOu get it. The next thing I read, Octavia Spencer is WORRIED ABOUT HER WEIGHT…. OCTAVIA SPENCER FEELS SHE IS LESS VALUED BECAUSE OF HER WEIGHT…
Of course I was miffed that not only was I being misrepresented, but it was sending THE WRONG MESSAGE to kids out there.
So, I decided to tell you IN MY OWN DAMNED WORDS the truth! First of all, Ladies and Gents here’s what i am NOT DOING….I am NOT WORRYING ABOUT MY WEIGHT! I AM NOT TRYING TO CONFORM TO an unrealistic model of beauty.
I AM however being proactive in being the healthiest I can be. And before you ask, NO, awards season is not the reason. I’ve been doing this for the past 10 years because it took that long to gain the weight! Right now, believe it or not, I’m pretty damn healthy! 20 LBS (max) is all I intend to lose.
Now hopefully having cleared up the constantly tweeted, and blogged about “I am less valuable because of my weight” MISQUOTES attributed to me, I want to touch on the real issue here. The weight obsessed media is destroying not only us but our children! Our culture is at the precipice of redifining who we are. Right now in this salacious age of the internet coupled with the “beauty and fashion” industries respectively ONLY promoting a “certain” kind of pretty, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in bullying, eating disorders and body dysmorphia among MALE and female teens. This is no joking matter.
Here’s what I will leave you with: Be happy in your own skin. If you are unhealthy start by making small changes to become healthier. You are unique, beautiful, and worthy. Last but certainly not least, don’t buy into any of it. AND I MEAN LITERALLY! I don’t buy magazines that don’t feature women who represent my physicality or varying ethicities on their cover because they are saying, YOU DON’T MATTER TO ME…YOU ARE NOT MY DEMOGRAPHIC. To that I say, good, that’s $35 a week I can save!
God bless!

Well alright Octavia! Welcome back to THICKhood!

OCTAVIA SPENCER IS NOT “HEALTHY”

We know that Octavia is going to win an Oscar and we are so happy for her. I don’t know if you have notice but since Octavia has been receiving a buzz around “The Help” she has lost weight (are you surprise?). Well yesterday at the SAG Awards she decided to give her opinion on being overweight.

Check this out!

Octavia Spencer couldn’t be on a better career path – but The Help star is not without some concerns about herself.

“I am not healthy at this weight,” Spencer, 39, said backstage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she won a best supporting actress trophy.

“Any time you have too much around the middle, then there is a problem. [And] when you reach a certain weight, you are less valuable.”

But Spencer, who also won a Golden Globe, says that Hollywood should be more accepting of actresses of different sizes, including those who are extra thin.

Blaming “society” for the stigmas attached to looks, Spencer adds, “I feel for the overly thin women as much as I do for the overweight women. It … has to change.”

Still, to the thin actresses, she jokes that she has a message.

“If more women ate, they would be a lot happier,” she says. “Let me tell you, I am a lot grumpier when I don’t eat.” (Source)

Ok thickettes, I am all for being healthy. I always have my servings of fruit and veggies everyday and some may believe it or not but not all plus size women constantly make bad food choices. I don’t know if I am being a little sensitive today, but to state that having too much around the middle means you have a problem doesn’t sit well with me. I mean have you ever heard Queen Latifah, Jill Scott or Nikki Blonsky say that? NO! Everybody wants to say being plus size is not healthy, well I have skinny friends who are not healthy. I recently went hiking with my friend who is a size 4 and she couldn’t hang. I ended up finishing the hike by myself! It’s unfortunate that society has considered bigger means unhealthy.

I commend Octavia for stating that Hollywood should be more accepting of actresses of different sizes, HOWEVER I feel she also stated she and like so many others are going to conform to what Hollywood wants to stay “valuable”. This mentality is working my last nerve. Can we get more women who want to become more “healthy” because of them and NOT because of the peer pressure. Octavia is still valuable and will be more valuable to Hollywood when she wins an Oscar but I wish her and more women in the industry would say to Hollywood… ACCEPT ME AS I AM AND LOOK AT THE TALENT BEFORE THE WEIGHT. What do you think Thickettes?

THICKSATIONAL GOLDEN GLOBES

We are headed to the Oscars again Thickettes! A thicksational clap to Octavia Spencer. She took home a Golden Globe last night!

After seeing “The Help” I KNEW she was going to win.

And she looked THICKSATIONAL in her dress!

Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) was there as well. I will give her look a THICKSATIONAL B-. Her stylist could have done more with her curves. Melissa dropped a few tears when Octavia won her award. Thickettes have to stick together!

THE QUEEN!

Of course she looked like royalty last night! THICKSATION A+++ to you HONEY you looked FAB!
But one thickette stole the show!

I absolutely LOVED this dress on Amber. The red popped and it showed all of her curves. Oh and her boobs stayed in place. Gotta love that when you are a thickette wearing a strapless dress! Ha!
