Are we really shocked? Adele owned the Grammys last night! Not only did she take home every Grammy she was nominated for, but she won in the top 3 catergories: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year.
AND………
To put even more of these gimmick artist to shame, her performance was very simple but still AMAZING! Adele didn’t have any fireworks, no booty dances, no half naked bodies and still ROCKED the crowd with her beautiful voice. Now that’s talent when you can have the whole audience in aww and you’re not moving, you’re not screaming and you’re NOT doing 50,000 runs while you sing, but you just sing with pure vocals.
See it for yourself
THICKSATIONAL CLAPS FOR YOUR ADELE. YOU REPRESENT US WELL!
The night still belonged to the LEGEND Whitney Houston. LL Cool J hosted The Grammys, and I am so happy he did. He started off the show praying and thanking God for sharing Whitney with us…..LL is a classy man!
Jennifer did her tribute to Whitney singing “I Will Always”. Yeah I know that’s not the name of the song BUT the tribute was so short that’s all I remember. Jennifer did a good job and I know it was very hard for her to sing for her idol, however after her performance I think a nice montage of Whitney would’ve been perfect. I mean Jennifer’s Weight Watcher commercials last longer than the tribute!
This picture is THICKSATIONAL! Jill is working this cover! Jill talks about her new album “The Light of the Sun” (IN STORES NOW) in Billboard check out the article HERE.
So…I received calls and emails regarding Jazmine Sullivan quitting the music biz. Now I thought it was a rumor until I saw this……
Ok first, you do not make an official announcement on TWITTER. Second while I understand the frustrations of the industry (especially for a thicksational woman) the first thing that came to my mind is…..
How Do We Grow If We Quit?
There is no doubt that Jazmine Sullivan has the BEST voice of this generation and does she get the respect for it…NO…does she receive great marketing/pr….HELL NO…but is that a reason to quit….
HELL TO THE NAW!
We can’t grow and be successful in life if we quit when times get hard. Even things that we have a passion for gives us moments where we think we should quit.
But quitting has never solved anything!
It only makes the one who quits weaker and the doubters and haters stronger.
I feel Jazmine but I must say I am disappointed. Only two albums in the game and she is ready to run and while some may say she is taking a “break” not quitting, making an announcement via twitter damn sure sounds like QUITTING to me. My personal opinion…there is more behind this twitter rant than her just finding herself. If Jazmine had Alicia Keys numbers I DOUBT she would be taking a “break”.
We constantly hear our thickettes in the music industry talk about the lack of respect they receive because they are not a size 2, however if you keep taking “breaks” or QUITTING how will the world see what you have to offer.
Stand behind your talent and stop being WEAK!
Jazmine wants to “find” herself but I think she already has. She was placed on this earth to sing. If you don’t believe me check out the video below. She was only 11!
Now only someone who was touched by God can blow like this at 11 years old.
Jazmine get back to work and shake it off!! Do not waste your God given talent!
It’s rare to find emcee’s who can go past the culturally defined role of a mic checker. UrzTruly4phor, song writer, mc and artist developer is that rare breed. Raised in the Bronx, better known as the Boogie Down, Phor has always been surrounded by a strong musical presence. With rhyming as a hobby since elementary, it soon became a passion during his high school years when other inspiring emcees caught his ear. At 17yrs old, Phor created a production company which soon advanced to the record label, Gutta Mouth Recordz. While establishing himself as an artist, Phor took the time to start up his artist development company, Top Knoch Music. As a result of all his efforts and hard work, he has managed to establish relationships in the industry as well as put forth a respectable reputation for his Artist and Repertoire skills. No longer behind the scenes, Phor has spectators on the edge of their seats anticipating the release of his debut album. In addition to the album Phor has several more upcoming projects he expects to start releasing beginning at the end 2009 into 2010. Kicking it off will be his audio biography, Music&Me followed by the second installation, Do Da Rite Thing: A 4Phor Joint. Capping it off will be his undeniable album, Phor What Its Worth. So all of you “Radio Heads” and “Music Phenoms”, 4Phor is that quiet storm everyone should be watching. Don’t sleep on this kid.
