I don’t know about ya’ll but I am TIRED of this. We have lost so many people in the past three years. MJ, Vesta, Heavy D, Etta, Don C and now Whitney Houston. I was at dinner when the news broke and I was devastated. When we lose an ICON part of our childhood leaves us. “Greatest Love Of All” was the first song I memorized and performed at my elementary school talent show.
Regardless of the ignorant comments I’ve seen via Twitter, Facebook etc., Whitney will always be THE VOICE of all time. I say this constantly, and I will say it again. There is a certain glow around people when GOD has called them to entertain the world. Whitney was a GOD given talent, and when it’s GOD given it can’t be duplicated. Her voice will never be imitated because you can’t imitate God’s creation.
But beyond the amazing talent that left us, a child has lost her mother, a mother has lost her child, and so many others have lost a family member and a friend. Whitney was an amazing singer but above it all SHE WAS STILL A HUMAN BEING. Celebrities are flesh just like us, they hurt, they have fears and pain just like the rest of us.
When I first saw the headlines on my facebook page, I was in shock!!! At first I was hoping it would be some kind of sick publicity joke by group of idiots, but it wasn’t. It WAS true!! I felt like I lost a distant friend!! Whitney was part of my life’s soundtrack. I grew up listening to her music. Despite of all the happenings in her life, I’ve looked past those things and saw her for what she was, a beautiful woman with ENORMOUS talent. And that’s how I will remember her!!! R.I.P.
