On Saturday, February 4, 2012, Fashion To Figure (FTF) will celebrate the grand opening of its long-awaited Cherry Hill location, which serves the greater metropolitan Philadelphia area and southern New Jersey. We know that Octavia is going to win an Oscar and we are so happy for her. I don’t know if you have notice but since Octavia has been receiving a buzz around “The Help” she has lost weight (are you surprise?). Well yesterday at the SAG Awards she decided to give her opinion on being overweight.

Octavia Spencer couldn’t be on a better career path – but The Help star is not without some concerns about herself.
“I am not healthy at this weight,” Spencer, 39, said backstage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she won a best supporting actress trophy.
“Any time you have too much around the middle, then there is a problem. [And] when you reach a certain weight, you are less valuable.”
But Spencer, who also won a Golden Globe, says that Hollywood should be more accepting of actresses of different sizes, including those who are extra thin.
Blaming “society” for the stigmas attached to looks, Spencer adds, “I feel for the overly thin women as much as I do for the overweight women. It … has to change.”
Still, to the thin actresses, she jokes that she has a message.
“If more women ate, they would be a lot happier,” she says. “Let me tell you, I am a lot grumpier when I don’t eat.” (Source)
Ok thickettes, I am all for being healthy. I always have my servings of fruit and veggies everyday and some may believe it or not but not all plus size women constantly make bad food choices. I don’t know if I am being a little sensitive today, but to state that having too much around the middle means you have a problem doesn’t sit well with me. I mean have you ever heard Queen Latifah, Jill Scott or Nikki Blonsky say that? NO! Everybody wants to say being plus size is not healthy, well I have skinny friends who are not healthy. I recently went hiking with my friend who is a size 4 and she couldn’t hang. I ended up finishing the hike by myself! It’s unfortunate that society has considered bigger means unhealthy.
I commend Octavia for stating that Hollywood should be more accepting of actresses of different sizes, HOWEVER I feel she also stated she and like so many others are going to conform to what Hollywood wants to stay “valuable”. This mentality is working my last nerve. Can we get more women who want to become more “healthy” because of them and NOT because of the peer pressure. Octavia is still valuable and will be more valuable to Hollywood when she wins an Oscar but I wish her and more women in the industry would say to Hollywood… ACCEPT ME AS I AM AND LOOK AT THE TALENT BEFORE THE WEIGHT. Interesting….I was just talking about living your Lotto Life last week. Well Marcia Adams a thickette from Atlanta, GA won the Mega Millions last week and won 52 MILLION DOLLARS.

The 33-year-old College Park accountant was the winner of the $72 million Mega Millions jackpot. She opted to take the lump-sum amount of $52 million.
What is she doing first?
“I’m hiring a financial planner,” Adams said.
Adams and her boyfriend went to the Chevron Food Mart on Buffington Road around 10 p.m. Tuesday to buy a Hershey’s candy bar, Adams told reporters Thursday at Georgia Lottery headquarters.
“I told him to buy me a Quik Pik,” she said. “He picked up one for himself and left the candy.”
That was less than an hour before the drawing.
“I knew somebody won,” Adams said. “But I didn’t think for a moment that is was that ticket.
Thursday morning, as they were driving to work, they saw a lottery billboard and remembered the tickets they bought two days earlier that were left in the center console of the car.
“He checked the number on his phone, and screamed my name,” Adams said. “We pulled over to the side of the highway so I could check the number again. Then I said, ‘We’ve got to get to the nearest store so I could check the numbers again.”
The winning numbers matched her ticket : 10-22-24-36-49 and 33 for the Mega Ball. But Adams said she needed even more verification.
“I emailed my job to tell them I wouldn’t be in today, found directions to the lottery office, and came straight here,” she said.
Even after official confirmation from lottery officials that she’d won, Adams said the truth was difficult to grasp.
“It still hasn’t set in,” she said. “It seems like it’s somebody else besides me.” By taking the cash option, Adams leaves $20 million on the table and takes a gross win of $52 million. After state and federal taxes take another 35 percent, she still will pocket about $33.8 million.
“That’s plenty,” Adams joked.
Still, don’t look for the 12-year corporate accountant to leave her job.
“I love what I do,” she said. “I have a purpose.”
And hiring a financial planner will help her put her money where it will do her and her family the most good.
“I want this money to last so I can retire early, not retire now,” Adams said, “and be comfortable and make sure that my family is comfortable.”
She said she wants to be certain the investments she makes are smart.
“I want to make sure every investment is done with a sound mind, not just personal feelings,” Adams said.
On her short list of things to do with her new-found wealth: “My boyfriend [of seven years] and I are going to plan our wedding,” Adams said.
“Take a family trip. I don’t know where, but just as long as we’re together.”
She does intend to share with her family – parents who are retired in south Georgia and two sisters.
“We’re going to sit down with my parents, who have had some medical issues lately, and make sure their affairs are in order,” Adams said.
But she hasn’t pinpointed any particular “must-have” extravagances to spoil herself with, so far.
Except maybe one, that Adams noted might be a necessity after all the media attention her windfall could bring.
“I’ll probably get another house, only because now, my name is out,” she said. (Source)

Oprah turns 58 today! I don’t care what your opinion is about Ms. Winfrey. There have been times where she made us laugh, things that she said that made us mad, and inspirational speeches that made us cry. Oprah is an excellent example that you can turn nothing into EVERYTHING if you focus on your purpose and think, speak and live positive!

So I’m watching the “Braxton Family Values” last night and the first scene shows the Braxton sisters in therapy. The girls are FINALLY getting through their issues that they have with each other. I am happy to see them take the time to go to therapy. Families rarely take advantage of the opportunity to seek help. HOWEVER the tables turned when Toni tells Traci (the thicksational sister) that she needs to lose weight! WTF!
Immediately Traci gets defensive and in this situation I don’t blame her. After all, the sister who told her to lose weight is a wealthy entertainer who has a chef, trainer, and money for lipo and tummy tucks. I just love when above average people tell the person who lives an average 9 to 5 life what they can do like it’s no big deal. Toni didn’t even bother to say anything nice about Traci, she just went in on Traci as if she doesn’t have a heart and wouldn’t be hurt by that comment. And it’s interesting that Toni went in on Tamar being a “mean girl” well dammit Toni has no room to talk. Out of all the sisters, Traci seems to be the “normal” one. Trina has a possessive cheating husband and she thinks her way to get back at him is to give another man head (girl bye). Towanda has a free loading husband. Tamar is a spoiled brat who treats her husband and sisters like they are her slaves and Toni HAD a husband that wanted to live off of her.
But TRACI IS SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT (In Tamar’s voice). She may have her problems in her personal life but she doesn’t put them out there like her skinny sisters. Traci does NOT need to lose weight to have a career…look at Jill Scott. Even if Jill is considered a minority in the industry, it is still possible to have a career as a thicksational woman. Its ignorant comments like the one Toni gave that makes girls and women take desperate measures to lose weight. Also 4 out of 5 Braxton sisters are skinny and only 1 has managed to have a successful career! BOOM! Guess skinny doesn’t get you everywhere!
Message to Toni Toni your comment was ignorant and hurtful. I felt Traci’s pain through the TV. If you really cared about Traci’s feeling you should have came at her in a more positive way AND if you are that passionate about HER weight get her a damn chef and trainer, YOU PAY FOR IT, since you want it so bad. For several months I heard Tanisha (Bad Girls Club) was going to have her own show on Oxygen called “Tanisha Gets Married”. The media and bloggers made the announcement last year in October so when I didn’t see any previews or advertisements I figure the show was out. Well…..
I finally saw the previews after watching the ignorant first episode of Season 8 Bad Girls Club. So dammit it’s official! I am so happy for Tanisha. If you are going to get married might as well make it profitable by having your own show. Tanisha is sure to provide Thicksatonal entertainment like she did on the Bad Girls Club. Forget Bridezilla…Tanisha is THICKzilla work it thickette!
Be honest at least once in your life you have said “I wish I could win the Lotto”. Some of you are faithful lotto players and buy weekly tickets hoping to get that chance to win BIG. You take a risk to attempt to win the Lotto but, why is it so important to win?

So for 2012 don’t say you are not…say YOU ARE, don’t say you wish…say YOU WILL and dammit don’t say you could…say YOU CAN. You have the right to live THE LOTTO LIFE, and will achieve it if you start by taking a CHANCE. Do not determine your life by saying what you wish you could do.

What’s interesting is the odds of you winning in your life versus winning the Mega Millions is much greater and yet most are still afraid to take a chance.
