A lot of people use the words “be real” and while most people say it do they really want “real”?
I know we all have people in our lives who constantly ask for our opinion on something and despite telling them the truth, it backfires. I have learned that most people don’t care about what you think so it’s best to keep your opinions to yourself. Being honest and stating facts/opinion is half of being real the other half is knowing when to back off and staying true to yourself.

There are so many people who change who they are to fit into others perceptions and no that is not real. Now of course in certain situations you should display tact which means knowing when or when not to say certain things. But, if there’s a situation that makes you compromise your morals, values and happiness to “fit in” you have lost the real meaning of being real.
The entertainment industry is a BIG example of people trying to fit into other people’s perception. I despise people who act a certain way in front of “industry people”. They might say it’s just ”business” it’s not. It’s just an excuse for people to be fake as hell. The same people who change who they are in front of people are also the main people who will throw you under the bus and talk behind your back.
Also vocal and outspoken people aren’t always the people who walk with a “not real” stamp on their heads. Just because they seem loud and opinionated that can be very misleading. Most people who aren’t real come with a different approach. They come as supporters, positive and always agree and support everything you say or do. Well that “support” is usually for their own benefit not yours.
I refuse to change who I am to fit into someone else’s world. Especially for those who do not know me and can’t add value to my life. So if that takes me losing some people in the process oh well. Most people who come into your life are only there for a season and you can’t satisfy everybody. Some will still have a reason to be mad at you whether you tell them the truth or fall back and not say anything at all. Also if it takes me longer to get to my career goals then so be it, at the end of the day I know I would’ve made it staying true to who I am and not doing fake/shady things to get ahead. No thank you I don’t need that karma in my world.
So I ask you thickettes…does it pay to be real all the time? Is staying honest and real not relevant anymore? Talk to me

I totally agree. I don’t like fake ass people. And no matter what you do, you run into them everywhere, so one must be smart to keep them at a distance. I don’t care who I’m around, I’m still gonna be me because that’s all I can be.

Always be authentic and true to your self, for when you don’t, you kill a bit of yourself and the respect for the universe.

I am not a fan a all of the term keeping it real. Genuine people are revealed through their actions not their words. It is human nature to exaggerate self so keeping silent and observing the actions of said person regardless of their position will reveal everything that needs to be known.
