Yesterday I was on the phone with a colleague of mine and we were talking about how people are becoming too Hollywood.

The “Hollywood” mentality has always been there but lately it is spreading fast! So I am going to call it the Hollywood Flu.

Here are some signs that you may have the Hollywood Flu!

1. When you only kick it or talk to somebody because they know celebrities and have connections.

2. When you feel you have taken some steps forward in your career and you start to ignore or act snobby to people you USE to talk to.

3. When you are on a reality show and you think everybody is HATING on you and now you want to do the typical “after reality TV” move: Act, Model, Sing (Hey follow your dreams but are people really hating on you that hard…doubt it. You are in the same boat as every other starving actor/model/singer. “New York” has truly twisted the minds of a lot of reality girls!)

4. When you are claiming clients that you know aren’t yours. (Example: If you are a publicist for a “celeb” and that celebrity is giving out his/her personal email to do interviews either…

a. You are not doing your job and they are about to fire your a**!

OR

b. They were never your client to begin with! Saying hi to someone at an event does not mean they are your client! (I think it’s this one!)

5. When you always talking about “who you know”. (Newsflash, most people don’t give a damn about who you know and if you have to constantly tell people you know them most of the time that means you don’t know sh*t!)

My thickettes stay away from the “Hollywood Flu” and those who have it….it can get contagious.

I have found out that most people who catch the virus aren’t really those confident people they try to portray. See most people trying the get into the game now don’t do it for the love of the craft (i.e. music, media, acting, etc), they do it to make them FEEL IMPORTANT.

Being in the industry is like validation that they are somebody so when you don’t know who you are, you act a damn fool and get the HOLLYWOOD FLU.

Advice to those you have caught the virus!

The Queen looks simply thicksational on the this cover. I love the short cut and the yellow on her is beautiful!.

Queen opened up in her recent interview in Essence Magazine.

“I never told anybody; I just buried it as deeply as I could and kept people at an arm’s distance. I never really let a person get too close to me. I could have been married years ago, but I had a commitment issue.”

The Queen finally told someone after her brother died.

“I had to get it off my chest. My mother felt terrible. She was kind of a country girl, so she wasn’t up on how slick people could be. When I told my dad, he said nothing.”

“I was a kid, and I had no power or control over the situation. I really wish I’d had the strength and the knowledge to say something sooner, because I always wondered, Did he do that to someone else? But I accept that the time for action has come and gone.”

I commend Queen for speaking out. A lot of people (women and men) go through this and feel like they have nobody to speak to. Much love to you Queen!

Here’s the info:

We are currently casting for our fifth season and we are looking for people who are aspiring plus size models and want to teach another family that you can be beautiful whatever size you are.

We cast everywhere from Maine to California, and this would bring a fun and unique dynamic to the show.

Requirements: Must be in a two-parent home; must live within the United States and must have at least one child between 7-17!

The premise of Wife Swap is simple: for seven days, two wives from two different families with very different values exchange husbands, children and lives (but not bedrooms) to discover what it’s like to live a different family’s life. It’s an interesting social experiment and a great way to see your family in a whole new light. It is shot as a documentary series, so NO scripts and no set. It’s just one camera that is documenting your life. Families that appear on the show will receive a financial honorarium for lost wages, time and commitment.
