Curvaceous women invited to flea market and fashion show!

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Curvy girls and women, listen up: From noon to 8 p.m. on Sept. 27, plus- size fashionistas are invited to a Curvy Girl Flea Market and fashion show at The Cup in Stapleton.

The fashion show at 4 p.m. will feature Island Plus Models Jada Vegas and Nima Beckie.

“It’s pretty top-notch couture,” said Ms. Beckie,a Rosebank resident who also works as an editor for two plus-size publications, SKORCH Style and MBW.

“There are more and more plus-size models everywhere you look,” she said.

The Islanders were among a group of women protesting outside the Bryant Park tent during Fashion Week last week in Manhattan. The group wants to be able to stage fashion shows of plus-sized designers in the tent, alongside the designers that cater to the emaciated crowd.

“We’re trained just as well how to walk,” she said. “We’re curvaceous and beautiful and we usually don’t go out of style. We just want to say, ‘pay attention.’ “

Admission is $5 to the flea market and fashion show. The Cup is at 388 Van Duzer St. {Source}
